| To install the speed control you
will need to remove the handlebar grip, the shifter and the break handle. My hands are quite
arthritic so I had a hard time getting the handlebar grip off. I solved this problem by: 1 - push a small screwdriver between the rubber grip and the handlebar. 2 - Push a thin 1/2" wide strip of plastic (cut from an old piece of venetian ....... blind) alongside the screw driver shaft. 3 - Now remove the screwdriver leaving the plastic between the grip and the .......handlebar. 4 - Repeat this process two more places around the handlebar grip, now the .......rubber grip will slide of easily. The shifter and brake handle are easily removed by loosening a small Allen bolt on the under side of each unit. Now you can slide the speed control on as far as it will go. Because of the curve of the handlebar the speed control will not go on far enough to get every thing back on. I had to trim 3/4" off of the handlebar grip. If you try to push the speed control on to far it will hang-up and not return all the way to its stop position. To reinstall the rubber grip, wet one hand and add a single drop of dish washing soap. Rub this on your handlebar and the rubber grip will slid right on. When the soap and water dries the rubber grip will be on soled. |
