Bought a used DraftMaster rack (picture on the left) on Craig's list, for $150.00. The rack was set up to hold two standard bicycles so I got a hold of the DraftMaster people and ordered the parts to convert my rack to a Specialty Rack (the picture on the right shows most of the parts) so I could carrie my recumbent trike.
After I had assembled the specialty parts on the rack I was disappointed. The additional parts made the rack a lot heavier so I decided to design my own specialty rack. Instead of the two-piece heavy rail from DraftMaster I used 1-1/4" by 1-1/4" by 1/8" alloy angle and sandwiched it on the DraftMaster rack. The finished parts for the conversion weighed one third that of the DraftMaster two-piece rail. Unlike the DraftMaster design mine is not adjustable. My design will only carry my trike or one just like it.
